The Many Benefits of Hemp

Historically, Hemp has copped negative connotations because of its close relations. But today, the world is awakening to realise the incredible power of Hemp – as a superfood, a fibre and as one of the world's most sustainable plants. Here are just a few of the health benefits hemp seeds will bring to you and your family.

The perfect source of essential fatty acids

Unlike any other natural food product, hemp seeds contain the optimal ratio of omega 3 to omega 6, which are essential fatty acids that the human body can't produce on its own. With a growing body of scientific evidence in favour of adequate levels of healthy fats, hemp seeds are a great natural health supplement for anyone's diet.

Naturally anti-inflammatory

Hemp seeds contain an exceptionally high amount of antioxidants and GLA (gamma linolenic acid), which is known for its anti-inflammatory effects, and to help
maintain hormonal balance. Many skin conditions are caused by underlying inflammation, which can be improved through antioxidant-rich food. For example, acne can be a result of chronic inflammation, and adding hemp seeds to your diet can be a great way to reduce inflammation. It can also help combat other inflammatory conditions, such as rheumatoid arthritis.

Great for plant-based diet

Hemp seeds are approximately 30% protein, meaning a typical 30g serving would provide almost 10g of complete protein and contain all nine essential amino acids. Because the human body can’t produce these essential amino acids, we must obtain them through our diet. Meat-eaters get these essential amino acids from meat, but there are very few plant-based foods that are a complete source of protein. This makes hemp seeds an especially great option for vegetarians and vegans.
